Geological Database Management System
GDMS Overview and Navigation
The Geological Database Management System (GDMS) provides consolidated geological information for locations throughout Indiana. The database contains information on more than 195,000 locations with over 500,000 related geologic attributes: including geologic unit tops and bottoms, total depths, cores, chemical analysis, logs, and much more. Each location is assigned a unique number (IGS ID) that is related to a set of tables with specific geologic information. Data can be searched and downloaded using queries or an interactive web map. Standalone interactive web map applications are in development for viewing specific datasets within the system. These applications will provide a focused research approach. These applications will include the following:
- Oil and Gas (formerly known as the PDMS)
- Bedrock and surficial boreholes
- Coal data and quality (NCRDS & ICQD)
- Outcrops
