Issue: |
Our main purpose is to provide timely information about petroleum test wells drilled in Indiana. Data entry is provided by a small number of full-time IGWS employees and temporary hourly staff. |
Objective: |
The long-term goal is to populate the PDMS with current and historical data for petroleum wells and fields in Indiana. |
Approach: |
We enter database records for wells as data are received from the Indiana DNR Division of Oil and Gas and other sources. As time and resources permit, historical paper records are entered into the online database. Python scripts to allow for continuous updating of well records are also being developed. |

Benefits: |
The records are used by the petroleum industry, government agencies, academicians, and the general public. The records are also used extensively, by employees of the IGWS to research and document geological studies. |
