Issue: |
A 2019 survey of outreach program participants indicated that more adult-oriented programming was needed. Furthermore, previous efforts to teach Master Naturalist courses have resulted in high travel expense costs. |
Objective: |
This project aims to pilot a new Indiana Master Naturalist program in Monroe County. The 10-week course will be taught in the new IGWS Learning Lab and allow the Survey to expand its adult-oriented programming by connecting natural resource organizations with non-traditional users. |
Approach: |
10 weekly classes will be offered from March-May 2022. IGWS personnel Thompson, Loope, Davis, and Sturgeon will teach 4 of the classes, with the remaining 6 being taught by cooperating natural resource organizations. Polly Sturgeon will oversee the program and submit certification requirements to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources at the end of the 10-week program. |
