Issue: | Previous geological mapping in the region lacks consistency. It reflects a mixture of generalized landscape and landform observations with stratigraphy observations, alongside very detailed observations and mapping. The landsystems approach is hard to follow. |
Objective: | Develop a continuous mapping coverage at a regional scale for northern Indiana that can be used for planning purposes. |
Approach: | Integration of previously mapped geological units; shallow coring to identify geochronology sampling spots on selected units; OSL and radiocarbon geochronology; one relatively deep (240 ft) rotosonic core to probe deeper stratigraphy. |
