Status Start Date End Date Locations
completed Jun 1, 2016 May 31, 2017 Morgan
Director: Patrick McLaughlin
Other Researchers: Walter Hasenmueller, Robin Rupp, Deborah DeChurch, Matthew Johnson
Funding: U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) - STATEMAP Program
Issue: Infrastructure developments in the county and projected population growth.
Objective: Advance our understanding of the bedrock of Morgan County specifically, and the broader understanding of the Sanders Group to the New Albany Shale interval. Create products that can be accessed and utilized by a broad user group from geologists to planners.
Approach: Manage the collection of new samples and the analysis of archived materials. Compile existing and new data into a framework from which the buried bedrock surface and the geologic formations that it intercepts can be spatially resolved and characterized.
Products: Four interim 7.5 minute geologic quadrangle maps (Hall, Martinsville, Mooresville and Paragon).
Benefits: New samples, new analytical data and new map products.
Publications:

Preliminary map showing Quaternary geology of the Martinsville 7.5-minute quadrangle, Indiana

Preliminary Map Showing Quaternary Geology of the Mooresville West 7.5-Minute Quadrangle, Indiana
