Three-Dimensional Geologic Mapping of a Quaternary Paleovalley System, Bartholomew County (Edinburgh quadrangle)

||Water resources, development along transportation corridors, and mineral resource assessment are planning issues in Bartholomew County that are closely linked to scientific interpretation of Quaternary geology near the limit of Wisconsin Episode glaciation.
||This study will produce a detailed Quaternary geologic map of the Edinburgh 7.5-minute quadrangle with a cross section and detailed descriptions of map units.
||An existing database of public domain geologic data for Bartholomew County will be refined by adding data from project drilling and field work. Quaternary geologic map units will be identified and standardized in the project database. Software for 3-D mapping will be used to construct a 3-D model of Quaternary geology in the project area and generate the map and cross section products.

||The detailed maps and cross sections that will result from this project will help Bartholomew County planners address issues relating to water and mineral resources in the project area. The detailed mapping will facilitate production of a 1:48,000-scale Quaternary geologic map of Bartholomew County by refining understanding of glacial geology near the Wisconsin Episode glacial margin.
