Mapping Advisory Committee

The Pennsylvania Geologic Mapping Advisory Committee is a diverse group of professionals consisting of geologists, engineers, natural resource managers, and land planners who represent various government agencies (federal, state, and local), academia, professional consultants, and industry. The committee meets bi-annually to collaboratively share work experiences and help identify the current and future priorities for Pennsylvania’s geological mapping program. The committee takes into account mapping priorities such as bedrock and surficial maps, resource maps (e.g., energy, mineral, hydrologic), hazard maps (e.g., landslide, subsidence, radon, and flooding), as well as economic and social benefits when recommending projects to the Survey. These recommendations are used to develop an annual proposal for a national review panel that evaluates projects and approves STATEMAP grant funding.
