Watershed hydrology, especially in areas of complex terrain; modeling the land-surface energy balance for determination of the spatial distribution and timing of snowmelt runoff; using numerical methods to solve geologic and hydrogeologic problems; GIS and remote sensing as tools for geospatial data analysis applied to geologic problems at all scales; scientific visualization.
Sally Letsinger is a Research Hydrogeologist in the Center for Geospatial Data Analysis (CGDA). She has over 20 years of experience in applying an interdisciplinary background and analytical skills to a wide range of natural-resource issues. She has both managed and provided the primary technical work on many projects using coupled GIS and numerical hydrologic modeling (both groundwater and surface water). These projects have guided prioritization of best management practices, delineated source-water protection areas, and identified recharge-discharge areas.
